Dirt & Edge-Wear Bakes

Grime that settles into recesses and paint worn off the hard edges, baked from the geometry so a model looks used instead of factory-fresh.

New-looking is the giveaway that a model was never finished. From the Lighting sidebar you can bake edge wear that rubs color off the hard edges the mesh actually has, and dirt that gathers in the same cavities occlusion finds. Both read the geometry, so the aging lands where it would in the real world.

Control the look

Angle, Strength, and Width sliders decide how much of each edge wears and how far in it reaches. Turn on Break-Up (Noise), with Amount, Grain, and Contrast, so the wear flakes and clumps instead of drawing a clean outline, and the grain scale stays consistent to the model's size.

Bake in a region

Like the AO bake, edge wear has a movable, resizable region window with a see-through hole. Aim it at one edge and only the edges showing through gain wear, front-most only, so you can wear a scratch here and leave the rest pristine, then bake a second region without disturbing the first.
