Light
Move the light instead of the model.
VIDEO ON THE WAY
Final video is on the way, thank you for your patience!
Selecting Light freezes the camera and hands the drag gesture to the lighting controls, so dragging in the viewport swings the light around the model. The Lighting sidebar opens for color, intensity and the rest. Nothing here paints or changes the textures: it changes how the surface is lit, which is how you check whether paint reads the way you meant it to. Pick any paint tool to give the camera back.
Option bar
- Ambient color - A round swatch. Click it to adopt the current brush color as the ambient color.
- Ambient - 0 to 2. The strength of the flat light that reaches every surface from all directions.
- Key color - A round swatch. Click it to adopt the current brush color as the key light color.
- Key - 0 to 5. The strength of the directional light you aim by dragging in the viewport.
- Shadow - On or off. Whether the key light casts shadows.
Mouse and stylus
- Drag in the viewport - Rotates the key light trackball style: horizontal drag around the camera's up axis, vertical around its right axis. There are no pitch limits, so the light can come from below the ground.
- Scroll - Adjusts key intensity.
- Viewport edge strips - Still drive the camera, so you can zoom without leaving the tool.
Notes
A sun disc marker floats in the viewport while the tool is active, wearing the key light's color and strength. The option bar and the Lighting sidebar edit the same values and always agree, and both update live as you drag or scroll.
