Measure
Drag the ruler across anything in the scene and read the distance.
VIDEO ON THE WAY
Final video is on the way, thank you for your patience!
Measure is the reading half of the measuring pair. Selecting it stands paint down and puts the rule on screen. It uses the saved calibration if there is one, and treats one model unit as 1.0 m until you have calibrated.
Using the rule
- The two ends - Drag either one. The reading is drawn on the rule itself, at the crossbar, not in the toolbar.
- Crossbars - Drawn perpendicular to the rule in the fitted surface plane, as an alignment aid.
- Snap to mesh - Set in the Calibrate window. Off lets each end move freely on a camera-facing plane. On makes a dragged end land on the visible mesh surface.
Notes
- The uncalibrated 1 unit to 1 meter reading is a display convenience. Calibrate to set the export scale.
- Readings follow the Settings, UNITS toggle, so the same span reads as "711 mm" or as "2 ft 4 in". Stored numbers are always millimeters.
- Drag ownership locks on pointer-down, so a fast drag that leaves the grip keeps dragging that end.
- Leaving Measure and Calibrate hides the rule and keeps the ends and the calibration.
