Text Decal
Paint words onto the surface as a transparent decal that follows the geometry.
Type the string and pick a font, then click or drag on the model to stamp it. It lands as a transparent decal that follows the surface, obeys the angle cutoff so it does not smear around corners, and can be mirrored by symmetry. Save one you like and it comes back as a reusable named decal.
Option bar
- Decal chips - One chip per saved text decal, in the order you made them. The label is truncated to seven characters, and the chip's tooltip carries the full text. Click one to make it the current stamp. The current one carries the accent highlight.
- Create Text Stamp - Opens the Text Decals window.
With no decals saved, the bar shows only the Create Text Stamp button. Press it to open the window.
The Text Decals window
The left column, AVAILABLE TEXT DECALS, lists everything you have made, with a Delete button for the selected one. The right column, CREATE NEW DECAL, is where you build one:
- Text field - The words to stamp. Defaults to "Text".
- Preview - A live render of the decal as it will be stamped.
- Font list - Scrolling list of the fonts available to the app.
- Create Decal - Adds the decal to the library and to the option bar.
Notes
The tool stamps in single-click mode with hard edges. Activating it saves your current brush hardness and leaving it restores that value, clears the stamp and closes the window, so switching to Text and back does not disturb an ordinary stamp selection.
